"Dance of Forgotten Steps"
The Dance Center of Columbia College
Chicago • April 2010

"Hedwig Dances’ bold, interdisciplinary collaborations resonate with complexity and depth, combining poetic choreography with sculptural artifacts, projected images and haunting original music. Celebrating their 25th Anniversary, critically acclaimed and award winning Hedwig Dances honors women choreographers with three premieres.
And Artistic Director Jan Bartoszek premieres Dance of Forgotten Steps, which delves into memory, identity and the influence on the living of those who have gone before, featuring a video installation by collaborator Petra Bachmaier of luftwerk, who transforms the stage into a vibrant illuminated realm."

"Earthly Tongues"
Ruth Page Theater
Chicago • May 2008

"Hedwig Dances launches its 24th season with the premiere of Earthly Tongues, a new work by artistic director Jan Bartoszek. Earthly Tongues mines the rich terrain of ancestry and memory. With hearty doses of humor and pungency, the dance examines what we know, what we don't know and what we fantasize about our collective and individual origins."
Luftwerk was invited to collaborate with Hedwig Dances and develop video projection elements as part of Hedwig Dances spring dance concert 'Earthly Tongues'.
The 'Feuertanz' sequence was projected onto a double layered backdrop and presents the 'mythical tribe' moving towards flickering flames.
The 'Family Portrait' captured generations of people, which were then projected onto the performers themselves.
